Mandonna with child

Benign oblivious tyrant child

Could we discuss the hours you keep?

Though willingly I lend my sleep

I’ll need the balance reconciled

I sit here happy but adrift

Madonna for the present day

Mandonna now, as one might say

Your Daddy’s got the evening shift

These early times you’ll never see

The joy and anguish of each day

You’ll be indifferent either way

Your memories though are safe with me
