Two-ness

My wife and I started a business together twenty-odd years ago, and, despite never really having had a business plan, we made a pretty good go of it. Many people will tell you they couldn't work with their spouse. I have retired now, but I couldn't have worked so successfully without mine. We have always felt that we work very well together; better than the sum of our separate abilities, but have, since long ago, just taken this for granted. It was therefore a delightful surprise to have this forgotten gift recognised by a friend recently. Hence this poem: Two-ness.
