Skywalk

At skywalk’s end, a different earth.
Reflection flips the waiting berth.
Below me, sky. Above, the sea
Between, a jetty beckons me.

This new perspective blows my mind
My duller self is left behind
With ropes cast off and sails unfurled
I’ve floated to another world

And in this mirror-world I see
Reflections of a mirror-me
Much calmer, fitter, bit more fun
A rock, a friend to everyone

Beguiled by this idea, I leap
Along jetty to the deep
Immersing body mind and soul
Enchanted waters make me whole

This other world will let me be
The paragon I think I see
The charming natives spin the spell
By seeming charmed by me as well

But midnight’s pumpkin lies in wait
The skywalk back, a certain date
Can mirror-me exist elsewhere?
This time I’ll make it home, I swear…
