The Art Class: Mark-Making
The subject left me rather unimpressed:
‘Mark-making’? Sounded trivial at best
But then the tutor put up on the screen
A work which shows what ‘making marks’ can mean
The drawing’s done in pencil, pen and ink
“And who might be the artist, do you think?”
Our tutor smirked “He really made his mark”
There is of course, among us, one bright spark:
“Van Gogh” she says “You can’t mistake the style”
And thus I see the subject is worthwhile
Mere marks have rendered here 'Boats on the Sea'
What’s good enough for Vincent’s fine with me.
