Two-ness

It took a friend to name our secret spell

This synergy we stumbled on somehow,

Adopted and forgot in life’s pell-mell,

Come into focus in the here and now

A celebration calling for a speech,

We did the thing together, a duet

A line apiece, a bit of patter each

A symmetry that never failed us yet

Describing, the next day, the night before

A friend had caught the spirit in a word

His “Two-ness” nicely gets the way we are

And what we take for granted has been heard
