Unsing The Heroes

Unsing those heroes, will you, just one day?
Celebrities have had it all too long
It’s time to look at things another way
We’re going to need to sing a different song

Neil Armstrong’s known: he won the lunar race
His Buddy Aldrin, too, stepped down to fame
But who remembers Michael Collins’ face?
Up orbiting the Moon, out of the game?

Of course we love a winner, love the best
But entertainment culture’s made us plebs
Though Sherpas too have conquered Everest
The masses only worship the Celebs

So sing a song of backroom stars with me
And spare a little adulation too
For quiet heroes whom we never see
Perhaps, of course, that quiet hero’s you…
